WEBQUEST :)



Hello eveeryone,

This week we are going to talk about Webquest.

First of all we have to define What Webquest is about?

A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity that directs students to the Web for information.  So, webquest is an interesting educative tool to guide students to use the web for looking information, in order to help students to use the web as an interesting educative tool more than a social form of comunication.

Webquest offers to students some advantages, for example it brings students the oportunity to develop organizational and thinking skills,  at the same time they learn as much as they can.

Following a simple template and set of guidelines, you too can develop successful WebQuest projects for your students.
There are five important and essential sections of the webquest:

1. Introduction. In this section students will find information which hel them to  understand the activity.

2. Task. Here students will get the practice that they need for understanding the topic, students will be able to realize their performance which they will be evaluated. because here is included a list of th goals of the webquest.

3. Process. This is the step where students define and expline the project, students have a roadmap to follow. Assignments are described detailed instructions will help students  in each part of the process to keep the individual or team activity.

4. Evaluation.  Here are included the rubrics which will be evaluated.

5. Conclusion.  A summary statement may also direct students to further research or a follow-up activity. Credits are included here.

Week 11 PBL



Hello everyone,

This week we are learning about Project-Based Learning (PBL). My team and I are concluding something interesting, for example:

  1. Well as the Reading mentioned, Rubrics and alternatives evaluations can help to students to evaluate their abilities and knowledge, becuse it is important to have a base which we can to take into account for helping our students to get high scores and an extra practice.
  2. On the other hand alternative assessment depends on direct observation, instructors can most easily begin to use it when evaluating students' writing assignments and individual speaking tasks such as presentations, therefore this methos allow to students to create a students to become more autonomous learners.
Soalthough we have multiples and diferents opinions about PBL all we are agree about that PBL is an useful tool which as future teachers can use for helping us to teach better an specific topic and helping to our students to get an extra practice of the topic in order to be autonomous and know how they are being evaluated.

I have found the students writing as an useful part of the page, specially the level, the part of Shopping. I think this is the perfect page for helping Students of Secundary school to practice and develop their natural skills because it conteins a lot of interesting activities of writing, listening, and reading which we could use for teaching and learn grammar and techniques for do it better.

So I hope that this page could help you to learn more and easier!!!

Hello everyone,

       My team (Francisca Mejia-Ivanny Ortiz-Marco Solis) and I learned a lot in the last week, so we had concluded that although Bookmarking and Delicious have a lot of disadvantages like, the cost of the internet, the normal risk of the use of web pages or the fact that the classes are not sistematical, the use of the Bookmarking and delicious is one of the most interesting oportunities that as teacher have, so we agree with the use of them, as educative tools.

     We have some advices for example, you have to take into account that using Bookmarking and Delicious always will be differnt depending of the age, gender, and number of studends in each class.

     So we have concluded that you can use them always that you can do it, but always taking into account the characteristics of your class.

BOOKMARKING & DELICIOUS
ADVANTAGES - DISADVANTAGES



Hello everyone,

Using Bookmarking has multiple advantages and disadvantages and I think there are a lot, because as we concluded the last week it is great to have a web page where you can share your links, or know how your classmates practice the topic what are thir favorite web page and why? You have a lot of oportunities for get them in order to have extra practice. One of my favorte advantages of Bookmarking and Delicious is that if you use them regularly you could avoid the stress of your life, Why? that is simple, because when you use them, you get extra practice, and if you have extra practice you will not need to practice a lot before a exam, and you can sleep well all the night, as result you will be happy :) or I think so.

But as I mentioned at the begining it has some disadvantages too, although I believe that are less than the advantages.  I can mention for example: Not all people have a computer, this coul be a problem because not all the schools have a computer center, affecting the development of the students. Another disadvantages take place in the knowledge of the students,  for example if  they don´t know how to use a computer, it will be impossible for them share their links or do anything else (although they could take a course). In general I think the principal problems is the money, not all people are able to understand and use a web page faster (not all students learn at the same time) and they could need to use the internet for long hours.


As some students i have problems this week using Delicious, and I think the most difficult problem was the begining because I didn´t use it before, and I didn´t know what I could do there. But now I am well and I am learning to use it every day. As teachers, we have a lot of facilities using Delicious in a classroom because we can find examples of some pages which help us to explane better, and get the atention of our students easier.

Bookmarking and Delicious

BOOKMARKING AND DELICIOUS

Hello everyone,

This is something interesting about What i have learned this week:

Bookmarking is a good tool, and wonderful web page and a useful site, because it is not a page created only for a teacher where the students have the oportunity of taking a classor read what the teacher want that the students study in an specific week or about a lesson. I found this page is an interesting tool which bring the studets the oportunity to share their knowledge,  learn about the experiences of their classmates and have the oportunity to save in the same page important records, links and aditional to this they can have a public and a private face, so to speak.

And about "Delicious", this is a social bookmarking site, so it is a part of Bookmarking, and in my opinion this is why Delicious is importnat, because particularly this is used to post interesting sites that I have found around the Web, and something wonderful is that: this page has tags, and this tags are like categories which you can get, so in Delicious, you use spaces to separate multiple tags in a list for example:


I.  Teacher
      a) homeworks
      b) videos
      c) readings

II. Student
      a)writing
            - vocabulary
            - grammar
      b)speaking
            -phonetic
            -phonology
      c)reading
           -exercises
           -tips
      d)listening
            -exercises
            -tips


And this is good because for example if you choose the writing tags, you can choose some opcions  like grammar or vocabulary. and this is for each tags, so you find all in a perfect order and that is esier for understanding.

In conclusion these are the reasons why I consider we have to take into account at the moment that we choose one for helping us to develop our teaching skills or while we are searching tools and advantages for giving a class.

And the most important difference of both  is that delicious is a part of bookmarking, no another similar page!!!

Hello everyone,

I so happy because this week I learn much about wikispace, and why Wikispace coul be the solution of some teacher´s problems...

Wikispace is a educative tool which brings the teacher the opportunity to undertand why sometimes students get bored in the classroom, I learn that is because students want to learn using the tools that the new technology give them, in order to be comunicated with the rest of their classmates because use the technology is interesting for them, and when they are in a taditional classroom they get bored because they are not doing any funny activity adecuated to the society where they live.
so, wikispace brigs the Teacher many facilities in order to help him/her to organize the class better, and that all the events are update always, the teacher use the information which he/she needs without worry himself about if all the students understand the same information, because the students choose the information that they want to read.

For the studens wikispace is one of the most funny, interesting and fast tool for helping them to undestand better an specific topic. because they have all that they need on hand, they can choose the information that they want to study, they have a creative and specific space for save their homewoks and researches, this is good because they don´t lost their homework or their dog ca not eat it!!
but the most important they work so happy because they love the technology and can do two or three activities at the same time, and add to this the share their opinion with the rest of the class and that is important because when they are in the classroom the time of the class is so short or they are so shy for participating.

My dog ate my homework!!

















Although wikispace also has disadvantages like: The teacher doesn´t know if his/her student has published an specific homework or who is the person behind the other computher. And The Students don´t get the answer which they need when they need (at the moment and fast), and also they could have some distraction when they are doing their homework.

In conclusion Wikispace could be an advantage or a disadvantage it depend on the teacher and the student, as the rest of the educative tools.
